Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • baking pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • refrigerator

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix plus required ingredients like eggs, oil, and water
  • gel food coloring variety of pastel colors
  • 2 boxes instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 cups milk for pudding preparation
  • 1 container Cool Whip thawed
  • Easter-themed sprinkles optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the white cake mix according to package instructions, divide the batter, and add gel food coloring for pastel shades before swirling in the pan.
  • Bake the cake as directed, then cool briefly and poke holes in it with a wooden spoon.
  • Mix the instant vanilla pudding with milk until smooth, pour it over the cake, and fill the holes.
  • Refrigerate the cake for at least two hours to allow flavors to meld.
  • Spread Cool Whip on top and add sprinkles if desired before serving.
  • Keep the cake refrigerated until ready to serve, then slice and enjoy.

Notes

Experiment with different pudding flavors like lemon or pistachio for variety. Consider adding crushed pineapple or mandarin oranges under the Cool Whip for added fruitiness. To maintain a clean look, limit color mixing when swirling the batter and aim for soft pastel shades. For a less sweet option, substitute homemade whipped cream for Cool Whip. The cake can be prepared a day in advance; just add Cool Whip and decorations before serving.
