Equipment

  • grinder
  • Large bowl
  • Saucepan
  • baking paper

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fine rava
  • ½ cup oil
  • ½ cup curd
  • 1 cup sugar
  • cups milk
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • ¼ cup additional milk
  • ¼ cup red tutti frutti
  • ¼ cup yellow tutti frutti

Instructions

  • Grind the rava into a fine powder and set aside. In a bowl, whisk together oil, curd, and sugar until dissolved.
  • Mix in milk and then add the powdered rava and salt, combining well. Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes.
  • Grease a saucepan and line it with baking paper. After resting, mix the batter again and add baking powder, baking soda, cardamom powder, and additional milk.
  • Fold in the red and yellow tutti frutti, then pour the batter into the prepared saucepan and sprinkle more tutti frutti on top.
  • Cover and seal the saucepan, then simmer on low heat for 60 minutes or bake in an oven at 180°C for 45 minutes.
  • Check for doneness with a skewer, then unmold and cut the cake into desired sizes.

Notes

For improved texture, consider adding ½ cup of maida to the batter. Add milk gradually, as different batters absorb liquids differently. Use a thick-bottomed pan to prevent burning. The cake is enhanced by the vibrant colors of the tutti frutti.
