Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
  • Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet until browned, then season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes and beef mixture in the baking dish, then repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  • Mix cream of mushroom soup with milk and pour over the layers.
  • Top with cheese and melted butter, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let the casserole rest before serving and optionally garnish with paprika.

Notes

Slice potatoes uniformly for even cooking and grease the baking dish well to prevent sticking. Adjust seasonings as desired and consider using different cheese varieties for flavor. This recipe can be doubled for larger gatherings.
