Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups orzo pasta traditional or whole-wheat
  • 3 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: lemon zest, spinach, or peas

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter or olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then sauté minced garlic for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add orzo to the skillet and toast for 2–3 minutes.
  • Pour in broth and bring to a simmer, cooking for 8–10 minutes until orzo is tender.
  • Reduce heat, then mix in heavy cream and Parmesan, stirring until thickened.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional lemon zest, adding spinach or peas if desired.
  • Serve in bowls, garnished with extra Parmesan or fresh herbs.

Notes

This dish can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop with a bit of broth or cream to restore its creamy texture.
