  • 2 cups salsa verde
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • ½ cup sour cream Optional for creamier texture

  • Combine chicken, salsa verde, salt, and cumin in a slow cooker, stir, cover, and cook on high for 2.5 to 3 hours or low for 4 to 5 hours.
  • Shred the cooked chicken with two forks and return it to the slow cooker, mixing well.
  • For a creamier texture, stir in sour cream before serving and garnish with fresh cilantro.

Notes

For a creamier version, add ½ cup of sour cream at the end and mix with the shredded chicken. This dish can be served over rice, in tacos, quesadillas, or as nachos.
