For the cake

  • 1 box white cake mix Use a standard size box.
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water

For the filling

  • 1 package vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz) Use instant pudding mix.
  • 1 cup milk Use whole milk for creaminess.

For the topping & decorations

  • 1 cup whipped topping Cool Whip or similar.
  • Food coloring (pastel colors)
  • Candy decorations (bunny-shaped, eggs, etc.) Use variety of colorful candies.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions, adding the 3 large eggs and 1 cup water; bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes, then use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface.

Filling

  • In a bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and 1 cup milk until smooth and starting to thicken.
  • Pour the pudding mixture evenly over the cake so the holes fill, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.

Topping and Serving

  • Spread 1 cup whipped topping over the chilled cake, tint portions with food coloring as desired, and add candy decorations.
  • Slice and serve chilled.
