Sauce

  • 1 cup sour cream Use fresh for the best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped Dried dill can be used but will taste flatter.

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Preparation

  • Wash the cucumbers and trim the ends, then slice them thinly and place in a large bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together the sour cream, fresh dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Pour the dressing over the cucumbers and toss gently to coat all slices evenly.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld before serving.
  • Taste and adjust salt and pepper just before plating.

Notes

Slice cucumbers uniformly for even texture and quick chilling. If cucumbers are very watery, sprinkle with a little salt, let sit for 10 minutes, then blot with a paper towel. Chill at least 30 minutes to enhance flavors.
