Chocolate Chip Cookies
Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that are soft in the middle and slightly crisp at the edges.
Ingredients
For the cookie dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure to bring the butter to room temperature.
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed Light or dark brown sugar can be used.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For best flavor, use pure vanilla extract.
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted before measuring for accuracy.
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips can be used.
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For chewier cookies, underbake slightly.
