Ingredients
  

Veggies

  • 2 cups Fresh broccoli florets (finely chopped) Chop broccoli very finely for better binding.

Dairy

  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese Use plant-based cheddar for a dairy-free option.

Binders

  • 1 large Egg (or flax egg for plant-based option) For flax egg, use 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed mixed with 2.5 tablespoons water.

Coating

  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs) Add more if mixture seems loose.

Spices & seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Preparation

  • Prepare the broccoli by washing and chopping it into small florets; blanch briefly if desired.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the blanched broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and egg (or flax egg) until well mixed.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls or patties, pressing firmly so they hold together.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease the basket.
  • Arrange poppers in a single layer and cook for 10–12 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway if your air fryer model recommends.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for even browning.
