Ingredients

Fruit

  • 2 large large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) Choose firmer apples for best results.

Batter

  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Coating

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Seasoning & Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Nonstick cooking spray For spraying the apple fries before cooking.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel (optional) and cut apples into fry-like sticks. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Set up coating stations: Bowl 1: Add flour. Bowl 2: Whisk egg and milk together. Bowl 3: Mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.

Coating

  • Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.

Cooking

  • Lightly spray coated apple fries with nonstick spray and place in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if needed.
  • Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Serving

  • Enjoy warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

Pat apple sticks very dry so coating adheres and crisps well. Don’t overcrowd the basket; cook in batches for even browning. Lightly mist with spray rather than drenching to keep coating crunchy.
