  • 3Β½ cups 385g Cake Flour sifted
  • 2 packages Orange Jell-O
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh Orange Extract
  • ΒΎ cup + 1 tbsp Fresh Orange Juice about 3 large oranges
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter softened

🍊 Orange Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter softened
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1 tbsp Milk or Cream
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Orange Zest
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  • Sift the cake flour and set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk/orange juice mixture. Mix just until combined.
  • Fold in orange extract, zest, and prepared Orange Jell-O.
  • Divide batter evenly between pans (~685g each).
  • Bake for 23-27 minutes. Check with a toothpick.
  • Cool in pans for 10 mins, then transfer to wire racks. Chill before frosting.

To Make Frosting:

  • Cream butter on medium-low speed for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar.
  • Mix in orange juice, zest, milk, and vanilla.
  • Beat on medium-high speed for 2 minutes until fluffy.
