Description

Juicy chicken simmered in rich, golden gravy and spooned over a mountain of fluffy mashed potatoes pure comfort in every bite.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon chicken base
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup water (optional)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet and cook chicken on both sides until golden and cooked through (165°F). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and stir in chicken base.
  4. Sprinkle in flour, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir to form a nutty-smelling paste.
  5. Gradually whisk in chicken stock, scraping up browned bits from the pan. Add water if needed. Simmer until smooth.
  6. Shred the cooked chicken with two forks or a mixer, then return to the skillet.
  7. Simmer gently in the gravy. Stir in cream for added richness and adjust seasoning to taste.
  8. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or biscuits with your favorite sides.

Notes

To thicken thin gravy, simmer longer or add a cornstarch slurry. For a flavor twist, try sage, thyme, or Cajun seasoning.
